Minimoog

The minimoog synth is a classic. Every bit as powerful and forceful as a lead guitar, if not more so. It is a purely analog device, and that means is uses a voltage controlled oscillator, a voltage controlled filter and a voltage controlled amplifier. When is came out in 1970, it cost $1495. When I bought mine in 1993, it cost me about $800. Today I see them going for 2 or 3 thousand dollars, and surely that number can only rise.
It is interesting to note that the biggest problem of the minimoog is perhaps it's drifting oscillators. This can but a bit annoying as it is hard to keep the instrument perfectly in tune, but this also give the instrument life and it's rich sound.
